Swarm Trap Catch 4-12-2024

Will they move in this box or go somewhere else? Sometimes it amazes me how many steps a swarm may go through before they decide where they want to live. This colony is now in a ten frame double deep and I still have not seen the queen. Some of these are affiliate links. Checking Hive That Swarmed Last September of 2023 For the First Time
Good morning Joey. I was catching up with my bees yesterday, crowded hives, swarm cells and failed splits...all better now, at least to the point where the bees will correct my meddling. Thought I was going to pull honey the day before yesterday, but the bees had other plans. We had some cool rainy weather and the supers I wanted to pull were clean of the uncapped honey and in it's place was packed with capped brood, my, my. Thanks for sharing, take care, Brice
I have had that same thing happen this year. All that room in the box and they want to get in the top box. Thanks for watching.
What a big job oh boy
Almost too easy.
I thought you got queen why didn’t u put in a nuc wouldn’t they go in with the queen on top instead of vacuuming cheers
They might have but there is no telling how long that would have taken. I just vac them up and go.
Joey, this is what I call take back! They’re taking back what they can of what you took from them!
That's it and they are taking all they can find right now.
👍
Thanks.
👍
Thanks.
Thank you for taking the time to share Joey.
Thanks for watching.
Great video!
Thank you.
Another good video. Looks like it turned out OK.
Thank you.
Thanks Joey.
Thanks for watching.
Lucky to catch that queen before she ran up into the deep rim of that box! Good job!
Yeah that would have been almost impossible. Thanks.
KAK VIDEO
ok
Thanks for sharing Joey!! Good catch!!
Thank you.
To get the bees out of the water meter lid with all those crevices, I put down a white sheet/cardboard and just thump it down... knocks most of the bees off and easy to vac up from there! Nice video.
I have a sheet just for times like this but it was in the shed at home. LOL Thanks for watching.
Nice easy queen catch but why didn't you release her right away?
I wanted to keep here locked up for a day to help the bees get settled in to their new home.
Textbook!!
Thank you.
I've done a few of these, I work for the water department, there's a lot of places the queen can hide in those meters.
Yes she can make it almost impossible to find in those boxes.
It hurts when you mash one and they sting you. I found a smaller attachment to make it easier to get them out of those small crevices. Nice job Joey!
Yes it does. I still haven't got that smaller attachment out of the old homemade bee vac. lol
👋 Joey.👍Nice little bunch O bees.
Thanks for watching.
First!!!!
That's cool. 😎
The cleanup crew!!!
Always amazing to watch.
I hate it when I have to go borrow my own tools from someone too. 😂😂
Yes that is a a pain. Now days I have try to remember who has it. 😂
Great brood pattern. She's a keeper!
I think she is too. Thanks for watching.
📃 and your Lord has inspired bees to build dwellings and in the trees and in wath they erect , so follow humbly the paths of your Lord and eat of all the fruits from their bellies comes a drink of various colors , in which, , there is healing for people , indeed , a sign for the people who they reflect 📃
Thanks for watching.
They'd be crazy to replace her. She is laying slabs. With all that capped brood they may need a bigger box. I agree with leaving that foundation. They need to earn their keep!
"They need to earn their keep!" That is what I was thinking.
Thanks Joey!
Thanks for watching.
Looks like they are doing well. Blessed Days Joey...
Thanks for watching.
Thank you for sharing Joey...see you on the next one.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video Joey.
Thanks for watching.
Good morning from New Hampshire where it has cooled about 20 degrees from Thursday. Heat index was near 100, which is pretty hot for this neck of the woods. Bees were bearding something fierce. The much-needed rain has let up a bit. Just a few bees hanging on the hive this morning. I need to check for honey, but with the humidity we have had, I will definitely be checking with a refractometer. Thanks for sharing, have a great weekend, Brice
That is a big temperature swing. Thanks for watching.
@@josephrawls Indeed, my hives went from ZZ Top beards to little goatees. It's always a pleasure to stop by your place. I would love to do it in person someday if I ever make it down south.
Hello from New Zealand Pretty sure you left an empty frame on the right hand side that you were supposed to toss
You are right I never caught that. The next time I went in them all frames were full and I had to give them a second box. Thanks for watching.
That’s interesting!!!
Thanks for watching.
I like that bee vac!!
I do too. The everything bee vac is very handy.

In north carolina had 6 traps out and didnt chacth one.
How big are the boxes? Do you have old comb in them?
I like your technique. You should open a barber shop. :)
LOL! When I was editing this video I said that it looked like I was cutting hair.
Don't count cuz they didn't move into your box! Haha😅 Good work Joey!
LOL! Thanks.
Another swarm,🤣"I didn't want it."😂Hi Joey, Blessed Days buddy...
Thank you, thanks for watching.
Did you do a mite check on them? It is my understanding that they will sometimes abscond because of mites whin nothing else seams to be a cause
I didn't do a mite check on them. I don't think they were there long enough for mites to cause any problem. Im thinking someone there did something to them and is not talking.
Great to see Mark again, it's been a few years now. Also great hearing about the "old days" in Julian's River Region Bee Club, the best club that ever was. Go's peace brother.
Yep it was good to see Mark again. I miss getting to go over to his shop at work and visit. The man really has some great carpentry skills. Thanks for watching.
Good morning Joey, just getting ready to bring a nuc to my buddies house. Checked my phone and you was on, so I thought I might sit a moment and watch. Always good to see what you are up to. Thanks for sharing, nice morning tunes. Have a great weekend, Brice
